MRE's Alzheimer’s Program
Mission
The mission of the Alzheimer’s M.R.E. Program is to serve as an adjunct educational resource and referral service available to local Alzheimer’s groups, their families, and staff. The service is free-of-charge and strictly of a science education nature.
Goals
- Increasing Alzheimer’s support group (and related group) participation.
- Reducing the incidence and severity of Alzheimer’s and related dementia.
- Reducing levels of depression in patients and caregivers, including health care professionals.
- Maintaining or improving the general health of patients and caregivers, including health care professionals.
Strategies
- Support group (and related group) attendance will be increased by emphasizing the educational dimension, to include “prevention/reduction through optimal health”. (The intent is to reach a larger number of pre and early stage Alzheimer’s families, thus helping to reduce incidence and severity while broadening the support base.)
- The incidence and severity of Alzheimer’s and related dementia will be reduced through educational programs designed to appraise program participants of the most current and practical nutraceutical research affecting Alzheimer’s patients and their families. (Individuals with questions regarding prescriptive drugs, diagnosis, or treatment will be strictly referred to their physician.)
- The incidence of both short-term and long-term depression will be reduced through educational programs designed to appraise all program participants of the most current and practical nutraceutical research affecting depression.
- The level of general health of program participants will be maintained or improved through educational programs designed to provide the most current and practical nutraceutical research available.
